Kauai's East Side is often referred to as the Coconut Coast due to the groves of coconut palms that grow in its many resort areas. This is the most populated district on the island with about 25% of the island's residents residing in the Wailua & Kapaa region. Here, amongst the Coco Palms, you will find historic places, amazing beaches, dramatic waterfalls and memorable attractions. Along the coastline, adventure seekers and athletes can enjoy approximately 7 to 8 miles of paved bike paths from Lydgate State Park all the way up to Kealia Beach.

The golden sandy beaches of the Coconut Coast are the area’s biggest attraction. Enjoy a local vibe at Aliomanu Bay, whale watch from Donkey Beach or take in the surfers at Kealia to the north. Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua has two lava rock enclosed ocean pools that are perfect places for families and first-time snorkelers. Massive playgrounds will provide endless fun for the Keiki's. Fun and excitement await visitors on the Coconut Coast.

Wailua provides a variety of sightseeing and outdoor activities. Hike the legendary Sleeping Giant Trail in the Nounou Mountains to the breathtaking scenic ridge, a wonderful location for a well deserved lunch. Kayak the Wailua River in the State Park or take a boat ride to the Fern Grotto. Visit the awe inspiring Opaekaa Falls. Sacred places such as Polihau Heiau, the large lava-rock temple of Kauai’s last king Kaumualii, can also be found on the Coconut Coast. Lastly, make sure to visit Kapaa Town where you will find fine Hawaiian crafts and art, dining, clothing & Hawaiian jewelry.
